La Chorrera Municipality Fines Veolia Panama Company

The La Chorrera municipality has imposed seven fines on Veolia Panama for non-compliance with waste collection services. The company has confirmed receiving notifications and is obligated to pay the fines, despite previous efforts to improve the situation.

The company Veolia Panama confirmed that it has been notified by the municipality of the imposed fines. Although it did not specify a time, it added that the company must go to pay the seven fines imposed. Seven fines of between $500 and $1,000 have been applied by the municipality of La Chorrera to the company Veolia Panama, due to the non-compliance of the waste collection service in various sites of the district. The company also admitted that it has made efforts to reduce waste collection times in the neighborhoods. Roberto Lee, Secretary General of the La Chorrera mayor's office, stated that the complaints and fines have been brought to the attention of the company Veolia Panama. He added that in some sectors of La Chorrera there is still a deficient collection of waste by the company. In November 2025, the sanitation company leased compactors trucks to comply with collection schedules and prevent the formation of 'patacones' in public areas. The fines were imposed after receiving municipal oversight of several citizen complaints about the deficient provision of household waste collection services.
